AWM stands for the Association for Women in Mathematics. The purpose of AWM is to encourage women and girls to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in these fields. The AWM Chapter at Wake Forest has several programs to engage and provide networking opportunities for undergrad and graduate students.

  • Mentorship Network

    • Freshman/Sophmores are paired up with Junior/Senior mentors

    • Junior/Seniors are paired up with Graduate student mentors

    • Graduate students are paired with a Faculty mentor

  • Brown Bag Seminars

    • Students are invited to practice presenting their research in a peer-oriented environment

  • Guest Speakers

    • Learn from and network with other female Mathematicians from the region

  • Diversity and Inclusion Discussions

    • Book readings, movie viewings, discussion groups
